Was There an Explosion at Iran's Fordow Underground Nuclear Enrichment Facility?

There have been numerous reports of a massive explosion at Iran's Fordow underground nuclear enrichment facility. Needless to say, Iran is denying any such occurrence (see: http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=9107139719).

How can we know the truth? "Let's go to the videotape!" Or at least go to the satellite photographs.

Just by chance, the tunnel entrances have disappeared. Did they vanish owing to an explosion, or were they blocked to prevent the escape of nuclear radiation?

You're the expert, and I'll let you decide! How could I possibly know.

And just by chance, Israel recently moved two Iron Dome batteries to the Haifa region, not far from Lebanon, where Iran's surrogate, Hezbollah, holds sway (see: http://www.globes.co.il/serveen/globes/docview.asp?did=1000817259&fid=1725). It had been speculated that the transfer of the units involved concern over the deteriorating situation in Syria. Go figure . . .

  1. Sorry, I can't figure out ...
    I have a different comment.
For unknown to me reason, I am reading "Letter from Cairo" in The New Yorker.
Among other interesting things, I read the following:
"I recent months, Morsi has targeted labor unions, trying to replace their leadership, and protests have been held in industrial cities ... Despite their talk of the importance of the vote, the Brothers appear to lack a deeper understanding of democracy."

Well, is any of our "caring" "liberals" concerned ... Of course, not. They are too busy babbling about "bad chemistry" between Obama and Netanyahu, blaming, of course, the latter and not the antisemite in the White House: "Look, our President is wonderful wonderful wonderful. He has such wonderful chemistry with Ahmadenijad, Assad, Morsi, Putin, who, of course, are wonderful wonderful wonderful too."
    Such hypocritical and bigoted bastards.

Could be just more cat-and-mouse games or misdirection on the part of the Mullahs to test how the US reacts (or not) as they're busy going through a changing of the guards at State, CIA and DoD.

Regarding a massive radiation leak, MASINT satellites would have immediately detected a leak that large even if the Iranians blocked the tunnels leading to the reactor.

  3. From The Jerusalem Post (http://www.jpost.com/IranianThreat/News/Article.aspx?id=301226):

"Strategic Affairs Minister and Vice Premier Moshe Ya'alon said Monday that he had read in the newspaper about the alleged explosion at Iran's Fordow Iranian nuclear facility.

In an interview with Army Radio, Ya'alon refused to comment specifically on reports of a mysterious blast at the underground bunker, only commenting that 'in the past we heard about worms and viruses and explosions. Every incident like this delays Iran's nuclear program.'"

  4. The radiation leak need not have been massive. Let's wait and see.
