CNN, "Norwegian Woman: I Was Raped in Dubai, Now I Face Prison Sentence": Might This Change Norway's Attitude Toward Israel?

As reported by CNN in an article entitled "Norwegian woman: I was raped in Dubai, now I face prison sentence" (http://edition.cnn.com/2013/07/20/world/meast/uae-norway-rape-controversy/index.html?hpt=hp_c1) by Nicola Goulding and Phil O'Sullivan, Norwegian interior designer Marte Deborah Dalelv was sentenced to 16 months in prison in Dubai after complaining that a colleague raped her. Goulding and O'Sullivan write:

"The 24-year-old was convicted and sentenced on charges of having unlawful sex, making a false statement and illegal consumption of alcohol.

. . . .

She said she had been out at a bar with her colleagues and friends, and asked a male colleague to walk her to her room when they returned at 3 a.m. to the hotel. She'd asked him to escort her because the hotel was large and confusing, and she didn't want to be wandering on her own, knowing she'd been drinking, she said.

When they reached a room, she realized it wasn't hers -- but the man then pulled her inside despite her vocal objections, according to Dalelv.

. . . .

After again giving her version of events to officers, Dalelv said, "They asked me, 'Are you sure you called the police because you just didn't like it?' I said, 'Well of course I didn't like it.' That is when I knew, I don't think they are going to believe me at all."

Dalelv says she was taken for an intimate medical exam and tested for alcohol consumption. Her belongings were taken and she was kept in jail for four days, she said, with no explanation as to why."

Dalelv was charged with sex outside of marriage and public consumption of alcohol. She then tried telling the police that it had been voluntary sex in order to try to make the matter disappear, whereupon she was also charged with . . . making a false statement.

The article goes on to inform us that Dalelv's travails are not out of the ordinary in Dubai:

"In December 2012, a British woman reported being raped by three men in Dubai. She was found guilty of drinking alcohol without a license and fined.

In January 2010, a British woman told authorities she was raped by an employee at a Dubai hotel. She was charged with public intoxication and having sex outside of marriage.

An Australian woman reported in 2008 that she was drugged and gang-raped. She was convicted of having sex outside marriage and drinking alcohol, and she was sentenced to 11 months in prison."

We are also told that this abomination is now "dominating the headlines in Norway."

Gee, I wonder if this might help to change the perspective of Norway, which of all the countries in Europe, is perhaps least friendly to Israel. There are even those who belong to Norway's Socialist Left Party, the junior partner in the Norwegian government, who have called for military action against Israel is it acts against Hamas, notwithstanding their rocketing of Israeli civilians, and notwithstanding their abuse of women (see: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/05/gaza-marathon-canceled_n_2810661.html).

No, I don't think so. Anti-Semitism invariably trumps all other concerns.

Dubai: Israelis No Longer Allowed; Terrorists Still Welcome

Dubai's police chief, Lt. Gen. Dahi Khalfan Tamim, continues to dribble tidbits of drivel out to the international press. Yesterday, he declared that following the killing of Hamas operative Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai, Israelis, even those with foreign passports, would no longer be welcome in his country:

"'We will not allow those who hold Israeli passports into the UAE no matter what other passport they have,' Tamim said.

He did not explain what procedures would be used to identify the Israeli visitors, except that the police will 'develop skills' to recognize Israelis by 'physical features and the way they speak.'

. . .

'Mossad shouldn't come to us. We haven't done anything to Israel. This is an insult to us, to Britain, to Australia, to Germany and to New Zealand and it's shameful,' Tamim told reporters in Dubai, a member of the United Arab Emirates."

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1153053.html

Tamim failed to provide reporters with details of the passport used by Mabhouh to enter Dubai, and apparently Dubai will continue to host visiting terrorists, murderers and weapons smugglers.

Needless to say, I am curious to learn of the methodology to be used by Dubai's police to identify "physical features" of Israelis. Perhaps they intend to make use of studies undertaken by Josef Mengele some 65 years ago.

Meanwhile, British and Australian investigators are arriving in Israel to question dual nationals whose names allegedly appeared in forged passports used by the persons who assassinated Mabhouh. You see, in today's world we become "insulted" when terrorists are extinguished from up close without "collateral damage". Instead, the civilized world prefers impersonal killing via drones, notwithstanding the deaths of innocent persons standing in close proximity to the target, provided these deaths do not exceed predetermined ratios and accepted norms.

Dubai: Will Assassination of Hamas Leader Change Other Nations' Perception of Israel?

Go to The New York Times online homepage, and there, prominently displayed under "opinion" is "The Thread, Mission: Dubai, Will the assassination of a Hamas leader change the way Israel is seen by other nations?", which takes you to an item entitled "Mission: Impossible - Dubai", written by Tobin Harshaw.

Will the assassination of the terrorist, murderer and illegal arms procurer, Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, change the way Israel is seen by other nations?" Answer: No. Regardless of what Israel does or does not do, it will be villified by the overwhelming majority of nations throughout the world.

You want proof? Look to Haiti. Following the earthquake that devastated much of this island nation, Israel immediately responded by sending rescue and medical teams. How did the world respond to this humane gesture by the "Zionist" state? The vile Baroness Tonge, for example, called for an investigation of whether the Israelis had sent their personnel to Haiti to harvest body organs (http://jgcaesarea.blogspot.com/2010/02/left-dishonourable-baroness-tonge-anti.html).

Was Israel behind the operation in Dubai? Were other nations involved? I don't know. I do know, however, that Israel is facing an imminent four-front war with Iran, Syria, Hezbollah and Hamas (http://jgcaesarea.blogspot.com/2010/01/will-iran-attack-israel-in-2010.html), and Iran is smuggling as many missiles as possible to its surrogates in anticipation of this confrontation. As acknowledged by Hezbollah's Nasrallah and Syria's foreign minister Waleed Mouallem (http://jgcaesarea.blogspot.com/2010/02/what-if-israel-threatened-syrian-cities.html), these missiles are targeting Israeli cities and pose an existential threat to Israel.

Whoever was responsible for the assassination of Mabhouh in Dubai was certainly aware of the surveillance cameras at the airport and the hotel. Next time you're at any international airport or luxury hotel, look up at the ceiling: the cameras are there for all to see. However, whoever was responsible for Mabhouh's assassination also engaged in a cost/benefit analysis: What is the importance of eliminating this terrorist responsible for acquiring advanced armaments for Hamas versus the risk of exposing the identities of the persons undertaking the operation.

Let the nations of the world continue to cry crocodile tears for Mahmoud al-Mabhouh. Notwithstanding the public displays of anguish and outrage, many of these same countries can now sleep more peacefully.
