Go to the homepage of The Washington Post where the lead story is still  "The State Department: Hillary Clinton’s email correspondence contained ‘top secret’ material," which followed on the heels of last night's bombshell revelation by the US State Department that additional top secret mails were found on Hillary's home server, including email correspondence with Obama. Obama has claimed that he didn't know that Hillary was using a private server and that the home server didn't pose a national security threat. Yeah, right.

Now go to the homepage of The New York Times: Currently not a mention of the story. "All the News Fit to Print," or, "What You Don't Know About Hillary Can't Hurt Her"? And so, perhaps you will be less than surprised to learn that Gail Collins, in her latest Times op-ed entitled "An Iowa To-Do List," also makes no mention of Hillary's email scandal, which is spiraling out of control. Instead, Collins lambastes the Republican presidential candidates and begins her opinion piece by observing:

"Iowa Republicans have a lot of choices on Monday, none of whom bear any resemblance to the second coming of Abraham Lincoln.

They’re not going to pick a paragon. But maybe they could at least get rid of somebody awful. Ted Cruz? Please, Iowa, if you could do anything to knock Ted Cruz out of the race, the country would be grateful. I know he has supporters. But the intensity of loathing among the rest of the population is very strong."

And America's "intensity of loathing" of Hillary? Long before yesterday's State Department disclosure, a Quinnipiac poll determined that the first words that come to mind when thinking of Hillary Clinton are "liar" and "dishonest." That sounds a bit like "loathing" to me."

Collins then calls for Iowa to eliminate Marco Rubio from the race, owing to his flip-flops on immigration:

"Cruz spent most of this week’s debate sniping at Marco Rubio — and Iowa, if you could get rid of both these guys, it’d be appreciated. I know that’s a lot to ask."

Mention by Collins of Hillary's flip-flops on the Iraq War, same sex marriage, free trade, gun control and immigration? None. I suppose this is because Hillary is granted space to allow her positions to "evolve."

Collins's conclusion:

"The truth, of course, is that someone awful will win, and nobody will go away. There’s still hope. And New Hampshire! Equally cold, but only 10 counties."

"Someone awful will win"? If only Hillary, The New York Times and Gail Collins could come to terms with the fact that Hillary, nearing indictment, must drop out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination before doing additional damage to her party and to the United States.

And yes, Joe, it's time to toss your hat in the ring, before it's too late.

Obama: A Majority of Americans Are "Crazies"

In his remarks today at an Event for the Nevada State Democratic Party, President Obama said of persons opposing his nuclear deal with Iran:

"Harry [Reid] and I drove over here together and we were doing a little reminiscing, and then figuring out how we’re going to deal with the crazies in terms of managing some problems. And then we talked about riding off into the sunset together."

Obama maligned all those opposing his deal with Iran notwithstanding an August 3, 2015 Quinnipiac University National Poll which found that "American voters oppose 57 - 28 percent, with only lukewarm support from Democrats and overwhelming opposition for Republicans and independent voters, the nuclear pact negotiated with Iran."

And yesterday, a Quinnipiac University Swing State Poll also determined that "voters in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania oppose the proposed nuclear pact with Iran by margins of more than 2-1."

Or stated otherwise, Obama believes that a majority of Americans are "crazies." But don't worry: Obama is determined to ignore those deranged voters, as are Democrats in the Senate, who simply don't give a damn if Iran's "breakout time" is reduced to a few weeks in another 15 years - if the mullahs don't cheat on the deal long before then, which of course they will.

In other news today, the Iranian Parliament Speaker's Adviser for International Affairs, Hossein Sheikholeslam, called for the "annihilation" of Israel, but this, of course, is of no concern to Obama and his fellow Democrats. You see, in his heart of hearts, Hossein didn't really mean it . . .

Ah yes, hope. More than a year and a half after being reelected to a second term as president of the United States, Obama is fervently awaiting 2017, when he will again be able to play golf to his heart's content (see: http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/dana-milbank-obamas-political-bogey-on-the-golf-course/2014/06/24/6111e3b0-fbd1-11e3-8176-f2c941cf35f1_story.html) and return to writing books about himself.

But is it really that bad?

So what if America's national debt has risen to some $17.6 trillion from $10.6 trillion when Obama took office in January 2009? Of course, this debt will never be returned, but the problems will only bubble to the surface when the Chinese demand the return of their $1.3 trillion.

Of course, that $1.3 trillion could have been returned to the Chinese if Obama hadn't decided to escalate the Afghanistan War, but why cry over spilled milk?

The IRS scandal? The Benghazi scandal? The VA scandal? As former White House press secretary Jay Carney used to say, these scandals are all "fake." Carney, by the way, is now waxing critical of the press corps' "shallow approach" concerning his beloved president (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/06/magazine/jay-carney.html?_r=0).

Obama's neo-isolationism and its disastrous consequences in Syria (9 million refugees out of a total population of 22 million) and Iraq (establishment of the ISIS caliphate)? Out of sight, out of mind!

And then there was the recent Quinnipiac University National Poll, indicating that Obama is considered the worst president since World War II (http://www.quinnipiac.edu/news-and-events/quinnipiac-university-poll/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=2056).

How are Obama enthusiasts at The New York Times responding to this tsunami of devastating news?

In her latest New York Times op-ed entitled "About Those Presidential Polls" (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/05/opinion/gail-collins-about-those-presidential-polls.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=c-column-top-span-region&region=c-column-top-span-region&WT.nav=c-column-top-span-region), Collins responds to the Quinnipiac Poll by observing that "Opinions about presidents change," and explains that even history's perception of Warren Harding has lately been the subject of revision, notwithstanding his affair with his wife's best friend, who was alleged to be a German spy.

Great! In another hundred years, history might also think more kindly of Obama! I can't wait to read about it!

In her latest New York Times op-ed entitled "Who Do We Think We Are?" (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/06/opinion/sunday/maureen-dowd-who-do-we-think-we-are.html?partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&_r=0), Maureen Dowd observes the despondency that is gripping the United States. As America celebrates the Fourth of July weekend, Dowd writes:

"For the first time perhaps, hope is not as much a characteristic of American feelings.

. . . .

Barack Obama vowed to make government cool again, but young people, put off by the dysfunction in our political, financial, military and social institutions, are eschewing government jobs. Idealism is swamped by special interests. The middle class is learning to do more with less. The president, sort of the opposite."

Hope? A thing of the past.

In fact, it's over: No one is going to be able to undo the economic and foreign affairs damage wrecked by Obama (admittedly, Bush also had a significant hand in it), but it remains for the Chinese to demand repayment of their debt in order to shatter the illusion.
