Gail Collins, "Our Political Black Hole": An Intellectual Black Hole

"Og Oggilby . . . sounds like a bubble in a bathtub."

W.C. Fields, playing Egbert Sousé (Sousé not souse, "accent grave over the 'e'!"), when introduced to Og Oggilby, his daughter's betrothed, in "The Bank Dick."

Don't bother reading Gail Collins's latest New York Times op-ed "Our Political Black Hole," in which she "hilariously" writes about the Higgs boson:

"Does it provide evidence of the existence of parallel worlds? If so, is it possible to move to one that doesn’t have Michele Bachmann?"

Yet without Republicans, Gail would have nothing to write about. Collins's universe is a vacuum (no Higgs boson particles to be found there), and her opinion pieces are almost as funny as a bubble in a bathtub.
