"It is well known in Washington that arguments have developed between pragmatic Mr Emanuel, a veteran in Congress where he was known for driving through compromises, and the idealistic inner circle who followed Mr Obama to the White House."

This would undoubtedly make Hillary's departure from the administration that much more inconvenient for Obama, and we are now better able to understand the balloon that was floated in the Sally Quinn column in the Washington Post, suggesting that she will replace Biden as vice president (http://jgcaesarea.blogspot.com/2010/06/hillary-clinton-as-obamas-vice.html).
After being demeaned for a year and a half, Hillary now has Obama by the short hairs.
