Median Net Worth of US Families Falls From $126,400 in 2007 to $77,300 in 2010: What Obama Wishes He Had Never Said

As reported by The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/fed-americans-wealth-dropped-40-percent/2012/06/11/gJQAlIsCVV_story.html?hpid=z1):

"The Federal Reserve said the median net worth of families plunged by 39 percent in just three years, from $126,400 in 2007 to $77,300 in 2010. That puts Americans roughly on par with where they were in 1992."

Which again reminds me of Obama's August 2011 declaration that his re-election will hinge on the state of the economy (see: http://www.cbsnews.com/2100-3445_162-20095106.html):

"I expect to be judged a year from now on whether or not things have continued to get better."

Best of luck to you, Mr. President.

  1. Jeff, we disagree, and I am afraid that certain things I know better. I came to America during "wonderful" Reagan years, looked around (including my workplace) listened (including to "trickle down" idiocy) and concluded immediately that the country couldn't end up nicely. I am a historian (among several other things), know human nature quite well and know that "give to the most ruthless and criminal everything and you'll be rich and happy" never worked, can't work and will never work, regardless of quality of rationalization/fiction - divine origin, culturalness of ladies and "gentlemen" (what a word!) or "meritocracy."
