Gail Collins, "Guess Who’s Back!": Benghazi Is a Bigger Blemish

In her latest New York Times op-ed entitled "Guess Who’s Back!" (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/09/opinion/collins-guess-whos-back.html), Gail Collins writes of ex-governor Mark Sanford's election to Congress:

"Well, we now definitely know that 21st-century voters are willing to overlook not just a moral lapse, but also bad judgment of epic proportions. This is useful information if you happen to live in a city where Anthony Weiner is thinking about running for mayor."

Indeed, Sanford's election is a disgrace.

But isn't Benghazi a bigger blemish? We're talking about a systematic effort by the Obama administration over the course of several months to portray the deadly attack against America's consulate as the consequence of a demonstration provoked by a senseless Web video.

We're talking about a high level deceit aimed at the entire American electorate.

In 2016, Hillary had best hope that "21st-century voters are willing to overlook not just a moral lapse, but also bad judgment of epic proportions."

  1. What video?

Oh, 'that' video - which was conveniently missing from the official Mullen/Pickering report. Besides, the Editorial Board at the NY times have concluded that the Benghazi affair is all just an obsession of the Republicans.

Now can we please get back to topics that really matter? Perhaps a follow-up piece to Maureen Dowd's wild Saudi Arabian Adventures?

Or, how about a sequel to that wonderful Vogue Magazine article, "Asma al-Assad: Syria’s ‘Rose In The Desert’"?
