State Department Employee Paid to Maintain the Clintons' Private Server: Time for Hillary to Call It Quits

The scandal surrounding Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server while Secretary of State is out of control. In a The Washington Post article entitled "Clintons personally paid State Department staffer to maintain server," Rosalind S. Helderman and Carol D. Leonnig tell us of the employment of Bryan Pagliano by the Clintons to maintain the private server. Helderman and Leonnig go on to say:

"The private pay arrangement has not previously been reported. The State Department has declined to answer questions about whether the private system was widely known within the agency or officially approved.

Asked in early August about whether Pagliano had been paid privately to maintain the server, a State Department official said that the agency had 'found no evidence that he ever informed the department that he had outside income.'

This week, a different State Department official said he could not clarify Pagliano’s pay situation, citing 'ongoing reviews and investigations' of Clinton’s e-mail setup.

Pagliano did not list the outside income in the required personal financial disclosures he filed each year."

As widely reported, Pagliano plans to plead the Fifth to avoid answering congressional committee questions.

Yes, it's time for Hillary to withdraw from the presidential race, or, will narcissism, feelings of entitlement and blind ambition trump (no relation to fellow narcissist Donald) what is best for America? Given the cynicism that has evolved in me over the decades, I expect narcissism to get the better of altruism.

Meanwhile, in a throwback to the Watergate scandal, The Washington Post has again trumped The New York Times.

Stay tuned . . .

  1. How long will the IRS claim confidentiality in order to protect Pagliano's tax returns, which would show the outside income?

That will show whether #44 is working to oust the Clintons from the newDemocratic Party.

  2. Goody goody! I hope Trey Gowdy chairs this committee. He and Hillary are old adversaries! AND Trey also chaired the investigation against the IRS. Will be inspring to watch him in action once again.
